BEN QUIGLEY
FOUNDER & OWNER
Ben is the founder of Symetrie and an Accredited Exercise Physiologist with over 30 years of experience in the health and fitness industry. Holding a Bachelor of Health Science and qualifications in Exercise Science and Strength & Conditioning, Ben’s approach is grounded in evidence-based training, injury prevention, and long-term physical resilience.
His career began with a fascination for functional and corrective exercise, which continues to shape the philosophy behind Symetrie today. Ben believes training should be both technically sound and accessible, creating an environment where people of all abilities can move better, build strength, and feel part of a supportive community.
A true Clovelly local, Ben has spent more than 30 years as a professional lifeguard. His connection to the beach and local community has played a big role in shaping the culture of the gym, one that values consistency, teamwork, and showing up for the people around you.
Outside the gym, you’ll usually find Ben in the ocean swimming or surfing, tackling the occasional SwimRun event, or coaching his kids’ OzTag games.

CONNOR CODY
HEAD OF PERFORMANCE & BRAND
Connor leads performance standards, brand and marketing strategy, commercial growth, and coaching development across Symetrie. His role sits at the intersection of culture and business, ensuring the experience at the gym is just as strong as the strategy driving it behind the scenes.
Originally from the UK, Connor founded and built his own small group personal training studio from the ground up. From brand positioning and member acquisition to retention, programming and team development, he gained firsthand experience in what it takes to build a sustainable, community-driven fitness business. When Covid reshaped the landscape, he made the decision to seek a new challenge and lifestyle opportunity in Australia, a move that ultimately led him to Symétrie.
At Symetrie, Connor mentors and develops the coaching team, maintains technical standards, and continually refines the member journey as the business evolves. Alongside this, he leads the gym’s sales and marketing strategy, driving brand growth, member acquisition, and long-term retention. From shaping campaigns and partnerships to refining how Symetrie communicates its values and offering, Connor focuses on ensuring the business continues to grow while staying true to the community-driven culture at its core. He is passionate about building high-performing environments where coaches feel empowered, members feel supported, and the culture remains strong as the community grows.
Connor has spent over 14 years as a semi-professional footballer, including representing England at schoolboy level. He is big on community and creating spaces people genuinely want to be part of. He’s passionate about being involved in the local community and is always looking for ways to support others and bring people together.

MARTY FREESTONE
SENIOR STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH
With over 15 years of experience in the fitness industry, Marty leads programming at Symetrie. He designs structured, evidence-based training frameworks that drive measurable results across strength, conditioning, and long-term athletic development for our community.
Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science and Kinesiology, alongside an undergraduate qualification in Sports Nutrition, Marty’s approach is grounded in research, performance principles, and practical application. His expertise spans program design, body composition strategy, and performance nutrition, ensuring members receive guidance that is both scientifically sound and sustainable.
Marty also spearheads Symetrie’s nutrition program, S6 Kick Start Program. The program is designed to educate members on the core principles of nutrition, build healthier habits, and develop sustainable behaviour change that supports long-term results beyond the initial six weeks.
Outside the gym, Marty is rarely sitting still. He loves a coastal run, a tough Coogee stairs session, and is just crazy enough to sign up for the Sydney Marathon the week of the event and still come away with a sub-3 finish.

LUCIA CAJIAS
EXERCISE SCIENTIST | STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH
Lucia is a Group Fitness Coach and Exercise Scientist with a passion for helping people build strength, confidence, and resilience through movement. A Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science graduate, she is currently completing her Graduate Certificate in High Performance Sport, specialising in strength and conditioning for performance and rehabilitation, injury prevention, and performance nutrition.Lucia’s coaching experience spans boutique personal training studios and high-performance settings, where she has worked with diverse clients, from athletes striving for peak performance to women navigating pre and postnatal training, and individuals rehabbing injuries. Her approach blends evidence-based programming with a strong focus on technique, creating a safe and supportive environment where every client can thrive.
Fluent in Spanish and known for her warm, community-focused style, Lucia is dedicated to making the gym a place where everyone feels welcome. She thrives on building genuine connections and tailoring sessions to each individual’s goals, whether it’s hitting a personal best, returning to training after injury, or simply feeling stronger in everyday life.

LIAM VELDSMAN
STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH | PILATES INSTRUCTOR
With over eight years of industry experience, Liam specialises in blending mat Pilates precision with progressive strength and conditioning. His sessions combine core control, breath mechanics and mobility with structured strength programming to help clients move efficiently, build functional resilience, and develop long-term confidence in their bodies.
Liam’s pathway into the fitness industry began through his own weight-loss and functional training journey, giving him firsthand insight into the physical and mental shifts required to create lasting change. That lived experience shapes his coaching style, focused on sustainable habits, technical excellence, and steady progression over quick fixes.
Holding Certificates III and IV in Health and Fitness alongside mat Pilates qualifications, Liam is committed to ongoing professional development, continually refining his knowledge in movement mechanics, program design, and performance-based nutrition. His sessions are structured, intentional, and detail-driven. Expect precise coaching, clear feedback, and programming designed to help you feel stronger in and out of the gym.
Outside the studio, Liam enjoys anime, gaming, beach time, and tracking down Sydney’s best food spots, bringing just the right amount of personality (and occasional sass) to the coaching floor.

EMMA MACDONALD
STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH | PRE & POST NATAL SPECIALIST
With five years’ experience across 1:1 and group training, Emma specialises in pre and post natal fitness, supporting women to rebuild strength safely and confidently at every stage of motherhood. Her coaching focuses on functional strength, core and pelvic floor awareness, and progressive return-to-training, ensuring clients feel capable, stable and strong both inside and outside the gym.
Emma’s approach is grounded in sustainable progression and personalised programming. She believes there is no one-size-fits-all in fitness, particularly during pregnancy and postpartum, and works closely with clients to build resilience, confidence, and long-term strength.
Having once felt anxious walking into a gym herself, Emma understands how transformative the right environment can be. She creates sessions that are structured, supportive and empowering, where women feel comfortable being challenged and celebrated in equal measure.
Emma also leads our weekly Mums & Bubs class, designed to help mothers rebuild strength in a welcoming, community-driven environment alongside their little ones.
Originally from London, she now calls Sydney home and embraces its love of movement and sunshine.

ELLA TURNER
EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGIST | PHYSIOTHERAPIST | STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH
Ella is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, Accredited Exercise Scientist, and newly graduated Doctor of Physiotherapy with a passion for combining science, movement, and human connection to help people perform at their best. With a distinction average in her doctoral studies and multiple awards for academic and clinical excellence, she brings both deep expertise and a thoughtful, evidence-based approach to every session.
Since joining Symetrie in 2021, Ella has worked with a wide range of clients from your everyday athlete to individuals managing musculoskeletal, neurological, and metabolic conditions. She specialises in strength and conditioning, injury rehabilitation, and tailored exercise prescription, always with a strong focus on long-term outcomes.
Outside of the gym, Ella has built extensive on-field experience as a sports trainer across rugby, AFL, cricket, and basketball, working closely with physiotherapists and medical teams to manage injuries and guide safe return-to-play pathways. Her collaborative approach and commitment to ongoing professional development mean she’s always refining her skills to better serve her clients.
When she’s not coaching or on the sidelines, Ella enjoys staying active, spending time outdoors, and continuing to learn from the best in her field. Driven by a genuine passion for helping others feel stronger, move better, and live well.

ASHLEA QUIGLEY
PILATES INSTRUCTOR | COACH
Ashlea brings over 20 years of experience in the health and fitness industry to Symetrie. With a background as a Sports Therapist working with both national and international sporting teams, she has developed a deep understanding of movement, injury prevention, and the body’s ability to recover and adapt.
Her journey into Pilates began after experiencing a back injury herself. Through her own rehabilitation, she saw firsthand how powerful Pilates can be for restoring strength, improving mobility, and supporting long-term spinal health, an experience that inspired her to study and become a Pilates Instructor.
Ashlea is passionate about continuing to expand her knowledge and bringing that understanding of the human body into every session. Her classes focus on controlled movement, stability, and building strength in a way that supports both performance and everyday life.
Known around the gym for her positivity and warm, encouraging energy, Ashlea brings a genuine kindness to every class, creating an environment where members feel supported, confident, and motivated to keep progressing.

NICOLE WINTERBURN
YOGA INSTRUCTOR & THERAPIST
Nicole is a yoga teacher and yoga therapist with over 36 years of personal practice and 18 years of teaching experience. Despite her extensive experience, she still considers herself a lifelong student of yoga, continually deepening her understanding of the practice and its philosophy.
Her teaching style is collaborative and intuitive, shaped by the belief that every individual brings something unique to their practice. Nicole takes the time to learn from her clients, understanding their goals, preferences, and challenges so she can guide sessions that feel both supportive and meaningful.
For Nicole, yoga is far more than just physical postures. It is a holistic practice that connects breath, body, and mind. Her classes gently weave these elements together, creating space for movement, awareness, and balance both on and off the mat.
